Kids Cooking Green is the Market's educational outreach program for elementary school children. It was developed and is run by Market co-founder Lori Deliso and longtime Market volunteer Liza Connolly. This program provides classes and activities introducing 5th- and 6th-grade children to the importance of eating locally grown food. Through hands-on cooking and lively classroom presentations, students learn about nutrition and the positive impact eating locally can have on the environment and their bodies. Currently, Kids Cooking Green is being offered at five of the Lexington elementary schools; in Bedford and Arlington, MA; and at a residential home for Little Wanderers in Boston.
