Food assistance isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity. At the Lexington Farmers’ Market, we see this up close and personal every market. Due to ongoing instability and uncertainty around SNAP/ebt and available benefits, the LFM is implementing new programs to help in both the short and long term.
- The LFM offered an automatic $20 SNAP Match at the Thanksgiving FEASTival, even for those with amounts as low as $.01 on their EBT cards.
- On January 1, 2026, we increased the SNAP Match to $20 for the Small Yet Mighty Winter Market (January-April) and the Summer Market (May-October). Customers who charge $20 to their EBT card get an additional $20 in SNAP Coupons ($40 total).
When you donate to the LFM, you are part of the community that shares:
- A love for local food, sustainably raised and carefully crafted
- An interest in protecting area farms and local agriculture
- A commitment to equal access to healthy, local food regardless of economic status
- A continuing commitment to Lexington’s vibrant farmers’ market
Your contribution makes a difference by:
- Supporting the LFM’s robust food assistance programs, including a SNAP match for those accessing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
- Joining a community-wide effort to build a strong local food economy and a robust farmers’ market
- Strengthening market operations, including educational programs, special events, outreach and community partnerships
Note that for donations of $500 or more, there is the potential for a tax deductible contribution.
