Book Signing with Local Cookbook Authors!

Here’s your chance to meet with some of the great cookbook authors who live in Lexington. They’ll be available at the market to sign your books and answer your questions!  Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!

Didi Emmons will join us with brand new copies of her book, "Wild Flavors". Instead of tearing your hair out over the invasive Japanese knotweed taking over your yard, cook its stems like rhubarb. That’s what Didi Emmons does. "I served Michael Pollan a spruce shoot compote next to roasted mutton one night at a restaurant in Boston. I told him he was eating a tree, and he seemed pleased," she writes. When not making compotes out of conifers, Emmons retreats to the sprawling farm of Eva Sommaripa, produce supplier to chefs in the know. "Wild Flavors" is Emmons’ character study of Eva, a piece of work who reuses twist ties and eats entire apples, including the core and stem.

Liz Weiss is a Lexington mom of two, a registered dietitian, and the coauthor of two cookbooks, including "No Whine with Dinner: 150 Healthy, Kid-Tested Recipes from The Meal Makeover Moms". Liz is on a mission to help busy families eat a nutrient-rich diet … happily. She co-hosts the award-winning radio podcast, Cooking with the Moms, and writes the family food blog, Meal Makeover Moms’ Kitchen.

Leigh Belanger is a writer and communications consultant with a focus on community food systems. She is the author of "Homegrown: Seasonal Recipes and Stories Celebrating Boston’s Community of Chefs and Food Producers." Leigh studied gastronomy at Boston University and is the former program director for Chefs Collaborative, a national network of chefs and culinary professionals dedicated to improving food systems. She lives and cooks in Boston with her family. One of the restaurants that Leigh writes about in her book is Nourish, in Lexington. Karen Masterson, owner of Nourish, will be at the market with samples of her favorite recipes from the book.

Debra Samuels, cookbook author, food and travel writer and cooking teacher, has been working with children and families for over twenty-five years. Since 2000 she has been a regular contributor to The Boston Globe. She is co-author with Taekyung Chung of "The Korean Table" (Tuttle Publishing, 2008). Her new cookbook, "My Japanese Table: A Lifetime of Cooking with Friends and Family", was published by Tuttle in Fall 2011. Whether teaching groups of Japanese about American cuisine, Americans how to roll sushi, kids how to make a pie crust or public school teachers how to put together a Japanese obento lunch, teaching has been an integral part of Debra’s professional life. In 2003, Debra helped produce a nutrition education and cooking guide for teens for Cooking Matters, part of Share Our Strength, a national organization focused on ending hunger in the United States where she continues as a volunteer chef.
