SNAP: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Here’s How The LFM Helps Fight Food Insecurity

Our programs are supported by your donations

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Lexington Farmers’ Market:

The LFM was the first farmers’ market in the metrowest region to accept SNAP/ebt starting in 2011, and the first to offer matching dollars to boost how much people can spend on healthy, local food. We work to educate customers on how to maximize the use of their food assistance dollars with the SNAP and HIP programs; visit the Market Manager’s tent to learn more!

2026: INCREASE IN THE LFM’S SNAP MATCH

Due to ongoing instability and uncertainty around SNAP/ebt and available benefits, the LFM is increasing its SNAP Match.

  • Starting January 2026, the LFM will increase the SNAP Match to $20, beginning with the Small Yet Mighty Winter Market from January – April, and continuing with the summer season market from end of May – October.
  • The LFM’s SNAP Match program is privately funded by community members like you. If you’re interested in supporting the LFM’s work for those who are food insecure, visit the LFM’s Donate page  https://www.lexingtonfarmersmarket.org/donate/

HOW DOES IT WORK?

SNAP: Double Your SNAP Benefits. The LFM doubles your SNAP benefits up to $20 per week. Here’s how:

Example: you want to use $20 of your SNAP benefits:

• Visit the Market Manager’s tent to start the transaction. We will deduct $20 from your EBT account.

• In return, you will receive $40 in SNAP coupons to use at the LFM, twice the amount that was deducted from your account.

• Note that you can use as much of your available SNAP benefits as you want at the market, but the LFM can only match up to $20 per week.

SNAP coupons can be used to purchase any SNAP-approved items at the LFM. They do not expire.
